Besides its architectural beauties, Brunate is also famous for the countless and suggestive panoramic views it offers. The panoramas of Brunate indeed guarantee a breathtaking spectacle, thanks to the fortunate position of the village. After all, the nickname “Balcony of the Alps” was not bestowed upon it by chance. Let’s discover together where to find the panoramic viewpoints of Brunate and what they allow you to observe.

  1. Piz Belvedere

Let’s start with a particularly famous viewpoint, called Piz Belvedere, located at the lower exit of the funicular, at the intersection with Via Pirotta. From here, you can admire the beautiful historic center of Como and the entire first basin of the lake, dominated by the imposing Villa Olmo. This beautiful view is the reason behind the construction of some sumptuous Belle Époque palaces, all located in this area.

  1. Panoramic Point of Via Pissarottino

At the end of Via Pissarottino, there is a walk called the “Liberty Itinerary,” along which you can admire the numerous and splendid villas of Brunate built in the Liberty style. However, the real gem is indeed located at the end of the street, which leads to one of the most spectacular panoramic points in Brunate.

Here, you can admire the lake in all its splendor, almost as if you were at the top of a ship’s prow. Indeed, the view extends to nearby Switzerland, while the Alps gently frame the landscape.

  1. Alpine Panoramas

Those who particularly appreciate Alpine panoramas and love to lose themselves in the view of the mountains over the lake will fall in love with Brunate’s “Alpine panoramas”: genuine glimpses of the mountains located in specific points of the village. These points are located:

  • On the terrace of the library;
  • In the Alessandro Volta Park;
  • In Via Bonacossa;
  • In Via Per Civiglio.

This last panoramic point, in particular, allows you to gaze upon the village of Brunate, showing it in all its stunning beauty.

  1. Volta Lighthouse

And we come to talk about what, among all the panoramas of Brunate, is undoubtedly the one that offers the most spectacular view. We are obviously referring to the Volta Lighthouse, one of the most appreciated destinations by tourists, also due to the spectacular view it offers.

Thanks to its fortunate position (certainly not chosen by chance!), the Lighthouse offers a magnificent 180° view, ranging from the Alpine arch to the skyscrapers of Milan. On particularly clear days, it is also possible to admire Piedmont and Liguria, although the true protagonist of the panorama is undoubtedly the majestic Monte Rosa.

  1. Via Monte Rosa

Still regarding Monte Rosa, there is a street in Brunate named after it. Again, this is not a random choice, as at the end of the road, we find a roundabout that offers a beautiful panoramic view of the mountain itself.
