bicicletta brunate

Brunate has always been one of the favorite destinations for cyclists. Brunate’s cycling itineraries, moreover, certainly do not limit themselves to just a few spins around the town, but rather involve its surroundings. Let’s discover together the most coveted routes and what kind of training they require.

Lino Gelpi Walk

This first loop starts from Como, immediately offering a pleasant view of the city’s marina. It’s not a walk for beginners, as it stretches along a route of almost 55 km, passing through part of the Lino Gelpi walk towards the beautiful Villa Olmo, then reaching Cernobbio and climbing towards the more rugged and wooded areas. However, the beautiful panoramas of the lake more than make up for the entire effort.

From Bellagio to Ghisallo

This second itinerary also follows a loop and, just like the previous one, requires a lot of effort and training. Starting from Como, you will cover a total of 83.5 km, during which you can admire some of the most famous and scenic points of the lake, such as the Orrido di Nesso and the lakeside promenade of Bellagio, finally reaching the renowned Sanctuary of Madonna del Ghisallo. The route also passes through the feared “Muro di Sormano”, a decidedly challenging road and, precisely for this reason, a coveted destination for the most daring cyclists.

From Lake Como to Lake Lugano

This third cycling itinerary, also starting from Como, offers a suggestive connection between the two lakes: Lake Como and Lake Lugano. The excursion, almost 55 km long, offers magnificent views of both: from the famous Punta Poiana on Lake Como, to the beautiful views of Lugano’s lakeside promenade, passing through the enchanting Swiss village of Brusino Arsizio. However, it’s a rather challenging route that requires some prior training.

Loop around Lake Como

For those who prefer to stay within Italian borders, they can embark on a simple, yet exciting, loop around Lake Como. There are indeed numerous routes to take, but one of the most scenic (and less demanding) winds for about 20 km through the neighboring towns of Como, such as Torno and Lenno.

From Como to Lake Piano

Located just above Como, Lake Piano is a charming natural oasis reachable from the capital, following a route rich in magnificent views. With nearly 100 km characterized by roads with a certain gradient, it’s a ride recommended for experienced cyclists. Once Lake Piano is reached, you return to Como passing through Menaggio and Nesso, two of the most picturesque villages overlooking Lake Como.
